Our loved ones and the most vulnerable of our populations are cared for at critical times by interprofessional teams of health care providers. Effective healthcare teams are those that confidently collaborate and communicate together. Confidence requires practice and here are limited opportunities for these students to practice together before they are members of the health team.
Help Save Stan is a one kind of simulated event used to bring together interprofessional teams of students to learn from, with, and about one another to improve their collaborative abilities and patient safety. At Help Save Stan the patient situations are simulated by the team experience is real. Students are able to participate as interprofessional health team members, receiving feedback, honing their skills and increasing their confidence. This year, Help Save Stan will be taking place online and will be open to students from Norquest College, NAIT, and the University of Alberta.
