Sim Coordinators - MacEwan Help Save Stan Event Information

Dear Sim Coordinator,

Thank you for participating in Help Save Stan on March 2, 2020.  It promises to be an amazing day filled with Interprofessional learning.  You are the point person for our facilitators, and as such, play a very important role in helping the event to run smoothly.  In advance of event day, you will contact facilitators with information about the following:
  • a copy of the Coordinator/Facilitator Simulation Guide
  • simulation to which you are assigned
  • link to online Facilitator IPE Training Module
  • information and event details about Facilitator in-person training workshop
  • event day details (direct them to the website)s

In-Person Facilitator Training Workshops
Sim Coordinators are asked to teach at least one Facilitator Training Workshop.  You will be contacted to see if this is possible.  If you have never taught the workshops before, please come anyway. We are happy to mentor you into this role.

Event day information

As a Sim Coordinator on event day, you are responsible for room and equipment set up, and then observing facilitators as they do briefing, deploying sims, and then debriefing learners. During the simulations, you will observe and provide feedback to facilitators, making note of behaviours that support interprofessional communication, collaboration, and role clarification grounded in the CIHC National IPE Competencies. These observations are used as discussion points in the feedback session.  Feedback sessions are short (3-4 minutes).

Your role is vital.
Should any unforeseen circumstances arise, and you are unable to make it, please contact us immediately at ihepsavestan@gmail.com

Please plan to arrive by 3:30 PM on Monday, March 2, 2020, the day of Help Save Stan familiarize yourself with the room/location and to set it up according to the scenario. Set up can also be arranged ahead of time by contacting simulationcentre@macewan.ca

In-person event day will be held in the MacEwan Robbins Health Learning Centre on the corner of 109 street and 104 avenue in downtown Edmonton. Find your way to the third floor, Room 9-311.
  • Registration will open at 4:30 PM
  • Facilitator orientation follows at 5:00 PM
  • You will guide your facilitators to their rooms following the orientation
  • Please make sure you register on time.

Simulations
Simulations begin immediately after student/facilitator orientations, at 5:30 PM sharp.  Simulations  are scheduled in 60 minute blocks.  We have scheduled 5 minutes at the beginning and end of each simulation to allow students time to move to the next sim, so each simulation is 50 minutes. You will be running 3 consecutive simulations.   Simulations will run between 5:30 - 8:30 PM. It is very important that you keep to the 50 minutes simulation times blocks to run the event on time.

Building Location and Parking
The Robbins has underground, parkade, and surface lot parking in close proximity.
